Paul Haslinger is an Austrian-American Grammy and Emmy-nominated composer and performing artist, known for seamlessly blending acoustic and electronic music. Classically trained in Vienna, he joined the pioneering electronic group Tangerine Dream at 23, contributing to acclaimed albums and film scores such as Underwater Sunlight, Miracle Mile, and Near Dark.
Paul’s breakthrough as a composer came in 2003 with Underworld, where he combined orchestral, electronic, and industrial elements with a hands-on production approach. As one of the first composers to fully embrace computer-based scoring—now an industry standard—he built a thriving career across film, television, and video games. His television credits include Amityville: An Origin Story and The Irregulars, film credits such as The Dirt and Blue Crush, and he has also scored video games including multiple Rainbow Six Siege series, the Need for Speed series and X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
Paul’s recent work includes the Clerkenwell/BBC Studios series Somewhere Boy, Alex Winter’s The YouTube Effect and Paul W.S. Anderson’s In the Lost Lands, based on George R. R. Martin’s book.
Next to his soundtrack work, Paul has also released a number of albums, most recently Exit Ghost I & II and the Neuland-project (with Peter Baumann).
He has collaborated and recorded with an extensive group of artists including John Tejada, Jason Falkner, Justin Meldal-Johnson, Hugo Nicholson, Lightwave, Sussan Deyhim, Nona Hendryx, Lustmord, Fennesz and the late Jon Hassell.
